The Empathic movement Team: what we’re all about

Most gyms are intimidating and shaming because they focus on appearance and encourage a “push harder” mentality. We consider ourselves “fitness activists” and are here to encourage you to listen to your own needs, focus on yourself, and tell you that you always have permission to do anything you want to do.

These virtual classes combine mental health support with intelligent fitness programming. We give you all of the energy, support, and motivation of an in-person class with the comfort and convenience of your own home. As a team, we’re trained to coach from an empathetic lens. We’ll teach you sound technique and always provide modifications as needed- but at the end of the day you are the expert of your body and are here for your own very personal reasons.

No matter what your fitness level, age, gender, or anything else that resonates with you, we are always excited to have you and support you wherever you’re at that day.

At the beginning of each class, we do a physical check in and an emotional/mental health check in - both using the thumbs up to thumbs down range - to encourage courageous communication and help us know what support might look like for you throughout class (and beyond).

HOW IT WORKS

You can book all your classes on the MindBody app or on our scheduling page HERE.

You will receive an email 60 MINUTES before class with your link to join.

When it’s time for class, simply click the link to join!

You will be lead through a warm up, demonstrate all movements, and provide plenty of feedback so you are never lost.

Each class is 60 minutes and typically includes both strength and conditioning work, but every single class is different so your workouts are always exciting!

At the end of the workout you’ll be taken through a 5 minute stretch and meditation

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

EBB & FLOW YOGA

Some days you feel like you're on top of the world, and some days you feel like the world is on top of you. Our Ebb & Flow yoga classes recognize that you might be feeling either (or both) of these ways on any given day. We combine grounding and stretchy movement with mindfulness practices to either challenge you appropriately, or give you some much needed rest and self-acceptance. You might lie on the floor the whole time, or you might practice some hand balancing, but it is all on your terms. These classes welcome folks of all skill levels.

STRENGTH & SELF-ACCEPTANCE

You will never find burpees here. This class is for those who just wants to feel STRONGER, practice appreciating their own body and mind, and lift things without the cardio. Each class may focus on upper, lower, or full body strength, but you will always be guided through all movements and given personal modifications as needed.

VENT & SWEAT

Bring your feelings, workout at your own pace, and leave feeling sweaty and satisfied. These classes start with a 5-min group check in and an "open floor venting space" for anyone who has anything they just need to get off their chest in the safety of our group. The remaining 55 mins is then allocated to a full body strength and conditioning workout where you are encouraged to move at your own pace and adjust any movements that do not work for you.

(First Friday of every month, starting 5/6/22) Forget the sweat and join us for a full hour of just VENT. We provide a safe, non-judgmental, and respectful space for you to bring your feelings and LET THEM GO. We might laugh, we might cry, we might go on an hour long rant about the patriarchy…we might even play games! But whatever we do, we welcome you exactly as you are. Because where you are is exactly where you are meant to be, and YOU are MORE than enough.
