Education & Coaching for Fitness Professionals
Many gym owners or professionals within the fitness industry want to create spaces that are more inclusive, safe, and mindful - they simply don’t know where to start.
ABH Movement, Inc. offers assessments, coaching, and workshops for fitness leaders who wish to improve any of the following aspects of their own businesses:
Gender inclusivity
There are certain topics that we recognize require vulnerability to discuss, and gender is one of them. Discrimination in the fitness industry is a serious problem, and it is critical to be mindful of gender issues when it comes to your professional team, your fitness space, and your clientele.
Specific examples may include: how to discuss this topic if it’s scary or unfamiliar to you or your team (which is totally okay and normal, and we’re so glad you’re thinking about it), the value and importance of private and/or gender neutral change rooms; using gender neutral language; using appropriate pronouns; and unconscious treatment of different sexes in the fitness industry (among many other areas).
Mental Health Practices & Neurodivergent Inclusivity
Most fitness spaces and programs are are not disability-inclusive. There is a major gap in the fitness industry when it comes to providing fitness services for neurodivergent folks (including, but not limited to individuals with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, epilepsy, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and/or mental health conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, dissociative identity disorder, etc.). We work with fitness leaders on how to adjust their physical and cultural gym spaces to meet the needs of these communities.
Team communication
Some teams have communication struggles that they may not even be aware of, but that drastically impede their ability to do their best work, meet their own individual, team, and community needs, or build trust and long-term prosperity. We work with leaders and teams as a whole to assess where communication has broken down and to help build more courageous, compassionate, and emotionally-aware communication practices.
